Speaker Johnson and January 6

On Sunday, Speaker of the Hosue Mike Johnson avoided questions about security concerns and the likelihood of another January attack on the Capitol. This concern stems from a fear that Trump supporters would not accept another presidential loss and would once again become rallied into violence at the Capitol. When asked about promoting security at the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2025, Johnson assured that steps have been taken to toughen the facilities, while arguing that the "bigger story" revolves around election integrity. This answer skates around the deeper, more important question: will another January 6 occur? If so, how do we recover?

Hezbollah Drone Attacks in Israel

A Hezbollah drone attack on an army base in Israel killed four soldiers and severely wounded seven others Sunday. This has been the deadliest strike by the militant group since Israel launched its ground invasion of Lebanon nearly two weeks ago. The attack near Binyamina city was retaliation for Israeli strikes on Beirut on Thursday that killed 22 people, according to Hezbollah. Israel claims that the attack wounded 61 citizens. This level of damage caused by drones is rare for Israel, a nation with relatively advanced air protection. Hezbollah and Israel continue to fire at each other almost daily since the war in Gaza began a year ago. Most recently, fighting has escalated.
