Update from the Middle East
Over the past week, Israel and Hezbollah have engaged in more escalated cross-border fire since the October 7th attacks. The rocket and missile fire, in addition to other strikes, have landed in Lebanon, causing Beirut to close many schools in its suburbs. Israel began this onslaught, claiming that the attacks were preemptively against a planned Hezbollah attack against Israel. At least two people were killed on Sunday as a result of the elevated conflict. Hezbollah has claimed that they are fighting a “battle without limits” against Israel. Simultaneously, Israel reports that their military is “prepared for next steps” against Hezbollah. Meanwhile, the word from the US is that we are “doing everything we can” to stop an all-out war in the Middle East. What we can glean from these recent events is that the conflict in and around Gaza will continue to escalate as we approach the one-year anniversary of the October 7th attacks.

Presidential Election Update
According to NBC polling, Vice President Harris’ popularity has jumped 16 points since July. Particularly, according to most recent polling Harris has surpassed Trump further in popularity, standing at 49% to Trump’s 44%. The greatest change in polling has occurred in voters aged 18 to 34 – those previously undecided between Trump and Harris are overwhelmingly polling in favor of Harris in recent weeks. However, despite this jump, the other major undecided blocks - Latinos, seniors, and independents, have not changed their polling patterns thus far.
