Drama Production of Snow Angel

By: Aaliyah Avent

This past November, the MLWGS Drama Department performed their rendition of Snow Angel, written by David Lindsay-Abaire. Directed by Andrew Gall, this comedic play, set in the early 2000s, displays the compelling story of outcast Frida Jensen, played by Shakylia Jones (‘25), who finds a girl named Eva, played by Zinnia Nygren (‘24), during a blizzard in Deerpoint, Vermont. Told through journal entries, we uncover the story of Eva’s appearance through the lenses of 15 teenagers as they discover the truth behind Eva’s existence. This story, full of twists and turns and witty writing, was surely one to remember.

Ziggy Booker (‘25) attended the show on opening night and said, “I thought the Drama Club and crew did very well on the acting, scenery, and playbill.” Many people who helped work on the show enjoyed the production, even during the slip ups. Jillian Wilson (‘25), the stage manager for the production, stated that although they had issues, "We're pretty good at pivoting and thinking on the spot.” This flexibility ensured the show was still enjoyable for all.

Both on and off stage, the cast and crew remained positive. Whealton stated that his favorite part of the production process was “hanging out with friends and making audiences laugh.” Wilson continued this sentiment, saying that “I loved getting to know [the cast and crew] and working with them to create a piece of theater that we can all be proud of.” With yet another successful play in the books, we are all stoked to see what the Drama Department will bring this spring!
