Dance Team’s Exciting Season Recap

By: Kiera Kinnier

The Maggie Walker Dance Team has had an eventful year so far, and is continuously  working to provide exciting performances for the student body! This school year, the team has  performed at the Fall Pep Rally and a makeup performance for Fall Fest. With the new year,  they are currently gearing up for the Winter Pep Rally and Multicultural Assembly, as well as  performances during the halftime of basketball games.

During practice, the team is always putting their best foot forward. Dance Team Captain Grace Blakley ('25) stated, "It means so much to be a leader of our team, as we are able to  represent the passion and perseverance that goes into every performance and practice." Each and every dancer on the team is always working hard in rehearsal. Both on stage and in practice, the team showcases their love for the sport and the effort they put into their craft.

As the second semester kicks off, the Maggie Walker Dance Team is preparing for a  number of performances before the end of their season. The first will be at the Winter Pep Rally on February 2nd. The team is excited to perform their poms routine for the school, and they hope to bring school spirit and excitement to the student body during halftime of the  student-teacher basketball game.

The following week, the dance team will perform at halftime during both the girls and  boys varsity basketball games against Freeman High School. The girls performance will have an  exciting twist, as elementary and middle school students will be performing alongside the dance team. On February 2nd, the Maggie Walker Dance Team is holding a dance clinic for first through eighth graders after school, from 4:30-6:30 PM. This clinic will allow the campers to learn the choreography that they will get to perform alongside the team during the basketball game held the following week. This clinic will provide an exciting opportunity for young dancers interested in joining their future high school dance team.

After the pep rally and basketball games, the dance team has this year’s Multicultural Assembly to look forward to, before the end of yet another thrilling and  successful season. The hard work and relentless effort put in by each and every dancer has not gone unnoticed, as the dance team continues to provide fun and exhilarating performances for their peers!
